Drywall Framer

Responsible for installing metal framing and hanging drywall on walls, ceilings and soffits of commercial projects.  Bilingual a plus. Must be able to pass a ten-year background check for felonies and drug testing.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment. Should have own personal protection equipment (PPE).

  • Layout reference lines and points, compute position of framing and furring channels, and mark position.

  • Measure and mark cutting lines on framing, drywall and trim.

  • Install grid system for installation of ceiling gypsum panels.

  • Install horizontal and vertical studs for interior walls for the attachment of gypsum panel products.

  • Trim rough edges from wallboard to maintain even joints.

  • Fit and fasten gypsum panels into the specified position.

  • Install batt insulation between studs.

  • Assemble and install metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways and corners.

  • Perform daily cleanup of work areas.

  • Responsible for providing own hand tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While typically assigned to one project at a time, a Drywall Framer/Hanger may be required to travel to several different job sites during the course of a day.

  • Working at night or on the weekend may be required for some jobs.

  • Pay for overtime and prevailing government wages when applicable.

  • Prolonged standing, climbing and working from rolling scaffolding are often necessary. Exposure to risk is high due to working with rough or sharp materials, and using sharp tools and power equipment.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & ADVANCEMENT

  • High school classes in carpentry, shop, mechanical drawing and general math are desirable.

  • Manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, physical fitness and a good sense of balance are important.

  • Potential for advancement is good and may include advancement to field supervisory positions after completion of training and depending on the individual s qualifications and abilities.


Drywall Finisher

Responsible for finishing, sanding and texturing drywall on walls, ceilings and soffits of commercial projects.  Bilingual a plus. Must be able to pass a ten-year background check for felonies and a drug test.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment. Should have own personal protection equipment (PPE).

  • Spread sealing compound between boards or panels or over cracks, holes, nail heads, or screw heads, using trowels, broadknives, or spatulas to achieve at least a level 4 or 5 finish.

  • Apply sealants or other protective coatings.

  • Sand rough spots of dried drywall compound between applications of compounds.

  • Use mechanical applicators that spread compounds and embed tape in one operation.

  • Apply texturizing compounds or primers to walls or ceilings before final finishing, using trowels, brushes, rollers, or a texture hopper.

  • Install metal molding at wall corners to secure wallboard and metal structural components.

  • Work on high ceilings using scaffolding or other tools, such as stilts.

  • Responsible for providing own hand tools.
